During processing, the last stage may be marking the detail, assigning an identification number, or making a decorative element such as a company logo. For such tasks, we can use engraving operations with a milling cutter. Mechanical processing with a tool will leave a permanent mark on the surface of the material, thanks to which it will not be erased, or fading as can happen with laser engraving.
In the process of engraving with a milling cutter, the selection of the tool and its operating parameters have a significant impact on the quality and durability. For engraving, we use milling cutters of various geometry, depending on the type of material being processed and the element that we want to engrave. Thanks to this, the engraving is durable and clear on the surface.
We can engrave on flat surfaces using 2.5D operations. More advanced engraving on free surfaces will be provided by 3-axis operations, or even smooth 4 or 5-axis operations. To program and execute such paths, it will be necessary to use a top-class CAM program and an appropriate machine. In our case, this is done using the CAMWorks program and the DMG MORI DMU 75 monoBLOCK machine
