CNC BLADE MILLING

Very strict requirements regarding surface quality and geometry (taking into account the continuous change of curvature) make the milling of blades an extremely complicated technological process. An additional factor complicating the process is the need to use difficult-to-cut, wear-resistant materials, including titanium, cobalt and nickel alloys. These materials allow rotor operation in very difficult environmental conditions (high temperatures, high pressure and huge rotational speeds).

One of the basic elements of a turbine is the blade, which is directly responsible for contact with the flowing medium. The blades connected in a palisade system enable the conversion of the energy of the flowing gas or liquid into mechanical energy.

Milling blades requires the use of the full capabilities of a multi-axis machining center, advanced milling strategies and specially selected tools. Depending on the blade shapes, we can use the spiral milling strategy using radius end mills or the SWARF (ang Side Wall Axial Relief Feed) technology, which allows for machining with the side of the cutter.
