CAMWorks modules
Milling 2.5 axes
The 2.5-axis milling module allows the automatic recognition of properties, i.e. planning, roughing and its strategies, contouring, drilling operations and threading. Using this module, we can take into account residual machining, HSM settings. We have ensured that the technology is fully linked to the model. Changing the geometry = technology update; in addition, all data is stored in a SOLIDWORKS file. The 2.5-axis milling module also provides a 4th and 5th axis indexing function. This can be used in the parts module as well as in SOLIDWORKS assemblies.
3-axis milling
When you choose the 3-axis milling module, you are given a wide selection of operations and settings for the created paths. Depending on the type of machined surface, whether concave or convex, more or less complex, we can choose from many types of operations and settings of their corresponding parameters, which will result in a path in accordance with our expectations. Thanks to modern software solutions such as the process manager, the time for generating very complex paths can be used for other technology definition activities. In practice, the paths are calculated in the background, while we can continue to work in the programme.
Multi-axis milling
The multi-axis milling module is dedicated to milling problems requiring more than three numerical axes. The paths created in this module make it possible to obtain complex surfaces faster and more accurately, often those that are not possible in the 3-axis module. Here, we could mention items such as rotor blades, for which we can find special settings in CAMWorks, machining of deep sockets at an angle, notches wound on a shaft, any subject in which we care for an appropriate tool guidance depending on the surface to be machined (tool contact point, tool inclination), the multi-axis module will be the right choice.
Turning | Milling with turning
Milling with turning is a module dedicated to lathes, lathes with a milling option and multi-tasking machining machines in general. It allows us to prepare a programme for a lathe with a milling option, taking into account additional functions such as starting the bar feeder, workpiece capture (sub-spindle), tailstock retraction, etc. To a certain extent, the module allows us to obtain a programme in the form of a cycle record. To a certain extent, the module allows us to receive the programme in the form of a cycle record. This form of recording facilitates the operator's work and improves communication with the machine. An additional improvement for the technologist will be the module enabling the recognition of the turned profile, which will reduce the time of defining the programme.
Cutting out EMD
The EDM electro hollowing module has been designed and developed for two- and four-axis machines. Using this module, we are able to automatically prepare the wire path and generate the correct G-code for the corresponding machine. The module also provides automatic recognition of the parts to be cut in the two-axis range and, in the case of four-axis issues, automatically synchronises the curves. We only need any geometry for this module to work, no history of operations is required.
HSM VoluMILL processing
The VoluMILL module allows you to generate efficient machining programmes for 2.5 axis milling and 3D surface machining. Using HSM machining with VoluMILL, you will reduce machining time by up to 80%, significantly reduce tool wear (5 times longer), and ensure optimum transitions without unnecessary rapid changes in tool direction. Feed rates and speeds will be automatically changed during tooling. The module is best suited to topics where a large volume of material needs to be picked up in a short period of time.
Virtual machine
CAMWorks is equipped with a realistic NC code simulator, based on the Eureka solution from the Italian company Roboris. The simulator allows very precise verification of the NC code and its optimisation. We can take compensation/tool wear into account. During the simulation, we have the possibility to edit the simulated code, thus eliminating errors that would result in a collision on the machine. The solution is available in three packages and supports multi-tasking machine tools (e.g.: two-spindle lathes, mill-turn machines with multi-axis heads).
Nesting
Manufacturer Geometric has provided its customers with a solution for optimal nesting of an element in the area of a selected sheet, e.g. sheet metal. The module uses a ready-made element prepared in SOLIDWORKS and an assembly in which the optimum positioning of the element is presented. The tool is fully automatic, simply select the detail, specify the necessary parameters, e.g. quantity, and activate the solver. The results can be saved to a DWG/DXF file.
CAMWorks Shop Floor
CAMWORKS is equipped with an add-on that enables a seamless flow of information between the CAM technology department and manufacturing. The application, which is a module in the CAMWorks software suite, is fully integrated with SOLIDWORKS and CAMWORKS. The target user group for the CAMWorks Shop Floor application is production staff working directly on the machines. The tool, by providing the machining project prepared for the part model, allows the operator to obtain information about the position of the zero point of the coordinate system on the workpiece, the dimensions of the blank, the tool magazine used to carry out the machining, The programme allows path-by-path verification of the G-code generated by the technologist and processed by the post-processor for the relevant machine. Preview of the setup sheet prepared automatically for the machining project developed. The sheet includes views of the model, toolpaths, parameters and execution time of machining operations.
